Happiness is our true state

This week, I’m inspired to choose this topic after listening to Dr. Jeanette Freeman’s audio/podcast on insight timer. If you are looking for a resource to begin meditation or if you are already a meditator, Insight timer is a wonderful app to derive inspiration from thousands of meditation teachers.

I have been using Insight timer more in these last six months.

In her podcast, Dr. Freeman shares the three keys to happiness as follows:

  1. Feel what you want to heal.
  2. Your happiness is not dependent on everything going great.
  3. Happiness is the true state of your Divine nature, your Higher Self. And, the infinite mind or the Universal Intelligence is operating through your mind.

As we begin to feel and acknowledge all that we go through in our lives- the good, bad, ugly and the worst, we are able to lay the foundation for freedom and liberation on the other side. Even though we don’t want to go through the discomfort again, it is indeed a very important step in the healing process.

When things do not go very well, we naturally feel unhappy and we sometimes push ourselves to think positively not acknowledging how we feel in that moment in order to get to a better feeling place. This takes us back to the first step of feeling before healing. This can easily lead us to the realization that is outlined in the third key that happiness is our true nature.

The third key can seem so far out there for many of us. A simple way to understand this is that our body is made of the same components as the cosmic field or the Universe. If our bodies are made of the same matter as the infinite field around us, then it becomes reasonable that the infinite mind is operating through us.
